Great White Shark Eating Harbor Porpoise Gives Family Free Biology Lesson

Lest we forget that the East Coast has great white sharks, too. Lots of them. This great white gave one family a biology lesson as it ate a harbor porpoise.

Lest we forget that the East Coast has great white sharks, too. Lots of them. Massachusetts’ Cape Cod is a breeding ground for the species. And they even show up in Maine. This family was watching a great white near Cliff Island in Casco Bay when it tore into a harbor porpoise. In July of 2020, a 63-year-old woman was killed by a great white in nearby Mackerel Cove. It was Maine’s first fatal attack.  The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy tracks the animals closely on the East Coast.
