If you want to find some of the most creative work in all of action sports, seek out the Red Bull Illume nominees and winners. Yes, the athletes are the ones getting all the glory any other day, but for a contest that doesn’t take place every year (2007, 2010, 2013 and now 2016) this is a pretty special collection of work from the people capturing (and helping create) those awesome moments we yearn for.
This year’s contest features the work of 55 finalists in 11 categories that will be put on display in a Chicago exhibition starting September 29, 2016. Free to the public, the top 55 photo light boxes will be packed up and put on display in Toronto’s Union Station from November 18-27 before setting off to other capitals and “cultural hubs” all over the globe as part of a night time photo exhibit until 2018.
