During a contest on top of Mt. Hood in Oregon I saw Willie McMillon messing around throwing snowballs, probably at some innocent kid. I whipped out my camera when noticed the clouds sprawled out in front of him. I wanted to shoot it so that there would be no evidence of him actually standing on a mountain in the middle of a terrain park. The result… an image of how clouds are really made. Photo: Laura Austin
These photos are a sample of images I collected during my years as online editor of Snowboarder. During my time at the magazine, I was able to travel the globe documenting the people, places, and action in the snowboard world. I wouldn’t have exactly considered myself a “photographer” at the time, since photography was only a small part of my job… but it was these years behind a lens that influenced me to take my camera and run with it.
