Tracks: The Top of the World to the Deepest Backcountry

It was these shots, during these years behind a lens, that influenced me to take my camera and run with it.

This photo falls in my favorites more so because of the experience that is attached to it. I got to go back to my home mountain (Stowe, VT) and ride with Jake Burton Carpenter, one of pioneers of snowboarding, for the day. One of the best powder days I have had at Stowe, and having Jake as your tour guide doesn't hurt either. I couldn't wipe a smile off my face all day. Photo: Laura Austin

These photos are a sample of images I collected during my years as online editor of Snowboarder. During my time at the magazine, I was able to travel the globe documenting the people, places, and action in the snowboard world. I wouldn’t have exactly considered myself a “photographer” at the time, since photography was only a small part of my job… but it was these years behind a lens that influenced me to take my camera and run with it.
