Tracks: The Top of the World to the Deepest Backcountry

It was these shots, during these years behind a lens, that influenced me to take my camera and run with it.

This shot is from my first experience in the backcountry which involved waking up while it was still dark out, hanging on for dear life on the back of a snowmobile, and gaining an appreciation for the work that goes into getting these shots. Photo: Laura Austin

These photos are a sample of images I collected during my years as online editor of Snowboarder. During my time at the magazine, I was able to travel the globe documenting the people, places, and action in the snowboard world. I wouldn’t have exactly considered myself a “photographer” at the time, since photography was only a small part of my job… but it was these years behind a lens that influenced me to take my camera and run with it.
