Real Skifi and the Art of Getting Clearance to Shoot Ridiculous Locations

Juho Kilkki, aka Real Skifi, never really just grabs his skis and rolls the camera. Every session is an in-depth project of some sort, whether it’s studying Newton’s Laws of Motion by launching into a lake or just figuring out how to get a session in without snow at all, and the list goes on. The guy never runs out of creative ideas for a unique freestyle skiing session. So it should be no surprise that the same mental labor goes into just scouting shoot (and stunt) locations. Take an office building that houses a local newspaper, for example.

It all started when Kilkki spotted a multi-level rooftop and got a few ideas. He needed some ladders, a drone, a winch, a group of friends, a ton of shovels…and permission to do it all, of course. From cold-calling and assuring the people on the other end of the call there’d be no liability if anybody got hurt to actually taking a few spills once he got up there, Juho gives a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into scouting a location he just has to session.
