The sidecountry at a resort is the backcountry. Shako Margiani posted this piece on Youtube late last month. He and a group were skiing near Tetnuldi Ski Resort in Svaneti, Georgia (in the Caucasus region north of Turkey) when Margiani kicked off a legit avalanche. He eats it, only to land in a perfect little spine that keeps him out of the avalanche path. With all the avalanche action in the States lately, this hits home.
