‘The Trails Before Us’ Tells the Story of the First Enduro Mountain Bike Race on Navajo Land

Playing outside can change lives. For the Navajo Nation, playing outside has been part of the culture for centuries. But the way they play has certainly evolved. The Trails Before Us tells the story of the first enduro mountain bike race on Navajo land, as this well-done mini documentary follows 17-year-old Nigel James. He hosts the first race and helped revitalize old sheep and livestock trails on his grandparents’ land to bring a new generation of mountain bikers into the fold. In doing so he honors their connection to the land, the community, and their culture. Kudos to Specialized for putting this piece together.
