The Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research is doing some impressive work to try and save lives in the backcountry. Avalanches kill at least 100 people each year, and to the Institute center, that’s too many. The documentary above looks at the research center and how it’s also investigating the affects of climate change on the snowpack. The scientists featured have dedicated their lives to understanding the avalanche phenomenon.
