Evan Moore is officially a badass. The Cataracts of the Kern River is a burly section of whitewater below the main sections of the Kern where tourists are usually carted down by willing guides in exciting, but comparably tranquil, water. The Upper Kern certainly has some stout sections, but this, this is next level. All the moisture in the Sierras equates to some 4,400 CFS on a section of river that can be run with a quarter of that amount. Check out the chaos. Moore has been in Chile all winter, paddling. We’re not sure if anything in South America could prepare him for this.

This is insanity.
