Former Transworld Snowboarding Managing Editor and Dew Tour Content Director Gerhard Gross is currently undergoing experimental treatment for stage 4 stomach cancer. Gross, who has long been an influential voice in the snowboard industry, has been battling for his life and now a GoFundme page has been set up to help support both his ongoing medical treatments and his family in their time of crisis.
Gross a former K2 Snowboards pro and recent father was given 12 months to live when diagnosed in December of 2016. Gross made immediate lifestyle changes and began aggressive treatments with a fierce determination and initially, had some positive results. But recent complications have hampered Goss’s progress and his cancer has unfortunately returned.
“Our hope now lies with a clinical trial,” wrote Crispin Cannon on the GoFundme page. “Gerhard is helping to test an immunotherapy that blocks the cancer’s pathways of communication and ability to spread. This treatment started November 15. The patient on the trial the longest so far has experienced durable results for over 17 months with no known side effects—results we hope to see for Gerhard too.”
