Mt. Bachelor Hosted the 10th Dirksen Derby This Weekend and It Went Off

Josh Dirksen is a certified legend in the snowboarding world. This year marked the 10th iteration of his Dirksen Derby, a banked slalom event that has expanded into a film festival and photo contest, splitboard races and other fun competitions that have continued to bring the snowboarding community together year after year. This season the Derby raised money for Protect Our Winters, Oregon Adaptive Sports, the Central Oregon Avalanche Association and Tyler Eklund, who was paralyzed nine years ago in a snowboarding accident. Bend came out in full force.

Competitors in the banked slalom were allowed to choose between two courses, a red and a green course, and the top 50 percent of racers from each course moved on. Here’s Dirksen with a preview of the red side:
