Oh, the Places You’ll Go! “You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so… get on your way!” In the timeless ode to exploration and the world at your feet, Dr. Seuss speaks of vast expanses and far-off horizons, but not even his whimsical short story was able to grasp just how vast and far-off this world of ours is — the world is truly an endlessly amazing place.
And National Geographic gets that; they understand that not even the foremost harbinger of explorative journalism (both written and photographic) is capable of unearthing all the treasures of this world alone. However, they are in the business of, at the very least, making an attempt, and that is precisely what the 2015 Traveler Photo Contest did: it unearthed nearly 18,000 photographic submissions into four categories — Travel Portraits, Outdoor Scenes, Sense of Place, and Spontaneous Moments — in and effort celebrate this endlessly amazing place we all call home.
