This wave in California is well known. Because it’s a grindy barrel with a complicated takeoff spot. Sandspit also does really weird things. Mutant things. In fact, it’s one of California’s most mutant of waves. But the barrels. They’re long. Not smooth, always. But long. It’s a place where many good surfers surf. Sometimes too many, as you can see the lineup is packed. But that doesn’t make this phenomenon of a wave any less fun to watch.
