30 Seconds of the Surf Lakes Island Slab Wave

There are quite a few different surf pools these days, but none quite so unmistakable as the Surf Lakes pool in Yeppoon, Australia. It’s been said before, but we’ll say it again: it looks straight out of a Mad Max film. The giant plunger displaces an incredible amount of water, sending it out to break over a variety of different sections. The most impressive — to our eyes, at least — is a section called The Island. It’s a slabbing drainer of a tube, and judging from the footage, it’s got enough juice to satisfy most any surfer looking for juice.
