With brilliant winter light and cooperative winds, Blacks and other Southern Californian gems produced perfect surf for nearly two weeks. Well-groomed sandbars from the recent torrential downpours didn't hurt either. Photo: Chuck Schmid/Surf-Shot.com
It’s sort of funny. Although our office is in Los Angeles, none of us here in The Inertia office are actually from California. We’re an American heartland/East Coast/Canadian West Coast mishmash that all happen to like what California has to offer. We’re like pilgrims! “Westward ho!” they said from their covered wagons. And now look. Here we are, basking in all this great state has to offer. And although the covered wagons have turned into more cars than should be on earth (at least here in LA), man oh man, are there some good waves. Here are 50 images submitted by our talented contributors that caught our eye.
