A Feast of Carnage From Yesterday’s Action at Jaws

What went down on Monday during the men’s and women’s Jaws Challenge was a lot like watching a series of car crashes. Back. To back. To back.

After Keala Kennelly was crowned women’s champ, a feat she told us felt strange since conditions were so challenging she didn’t have a single complete ride, the men took to the water as the incoming swell surged and the wind steadily picked up. There were flashes of brilliance, including Billy Kemper pulling into a heaving tube before it clamped down on him, and A LOT of carnage.

Shortly after the first Round 1 heat, BWT Commissioner Mike Parsons announced conditions were too dangerous to continue competition – which led to a tow-in super session to end all tow-in super sessions.

The action continues today.
