The most highly regarded and anticipated event of this or any year is, without a shadow of a doubt, the Billabong Pipe Masters. The world’s most notorious and celebrated wave, it’s an ideal end to the World Tour. Plenty of world champions have been decided at the hands of its shallow reef and gaping barrels. This year’s world title is no different as Mick Fanning and Kelly Slater duke it out to see who will hoist the World Champion trophy.
With the fabled North Shore of Oahu being surfing’s “proving grounds,” all of the below past Pipe Masters champions have proven themselves and cemented their place in surfing’s illustrious history.
