Peahi is a spectacular place. It’s surfing’s coliseum. Outside the coliseum, however, things are a little different. On Maui, time goes by slowly. The days drift by, languidly making their way from sun up to sun down. That all changes when Jaws fires up. People who spend a lot of time pleasantly passing time get a look in their eyes that isn’t always there. It’s a look of determination, excitement, and fear. And fear is a good thing… because at a place like Jaws, there’s a lot to be scared of.
