An Extraordinary Surf Trip to Nicaragua (x2)

Last August, after trying to round up a few friends for a trip, and failing due to conflicting work schedules, I departed on a solo trip to the Northern coast of Nicaragua. After hearing a lot of good things about the country, I thought it would be a good trip, and it didn’t disappoint.

This is a local Nicaraguan boy named Jorge. Unfortunately, he was born deaf and cannot hear or speak, but he loves the water and is actually a pretty good surfer. He likes throwing up the shaka and has his own hand signs for cutbacks and tubes. Photo: Greg Heine

Last August, after trying to round up a few friends for a trip, and failing due to conflicting work schedules, I departed on a solo trip to the Northern coast of Nicaragua. After hearing a lot of good things about the country, I thought it would be a good trip, and it didn’t disappoint. Eight straight days of overhead swell and I was sold on the place.

Spring rolled around this year and it was time to take a second trip down. One of my good friends from New York, Tommy, decided to join for an eight day trip. The first few days were slow, but the second half of the trip heated up and we returned to the States with smiles on our faces.
