On December 22, 2024, Benjamin Sanchis let go of the rope and pointed himself down the face of a wave so big it almost defies the imagination. He’s no stranger to huge waves, but the size of the wave that Jaws served up likely stunned him.
According to a YouTube post by the Maui Media Cartel, that captured the footage you see here, it was the biggest set of the swell — and it was a huge swell.
Sanchis didn’t make this wave. It’s not all that likely that anyone could, really, but the attempt was about as courageous as courageous gets.
