Endless Searching in the Evergreens

Between can collecting and panhandling, Mark McInnisputs about 25,000 miles a year on his rig in search of the perfect shot, which may end up being captured on film more often than in digital form.

Anybody that gets the opportunity to see Pete Devries surf in person will wonder why he's not chasing the dream of being on the World Tour. He has every trick in the book, is comfortable in slabbing barrels and can lay it on rail with the best of 'em. But Pete is a family man and would rather chase waves around his evergreen island than rack up points. My hat’s off to the man. Photo: Mark McInnis

Mark McInnis was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and as a result has an unparalleled affinity for cold water. Between can collecting and panhandling, Mark puts about 25,000 miles a year on his rig in search of the perfect shot, which may end up being captured on film more often than in digital form. When not drinking red wine, watching sunrises, eating hippy food, or sleeping in sandy beds, you can find him surfing all alone on a peak way off the beaten path. On a side note, Mark is not fond of traffic, people, beets, or mini-corn.
