Ever Seen a Shark Sprint After a Kite Foiler? You’re About To

Kitesurfers get to see a lot of things in the ocean. Chad Porter had a shark sprint after him while he was on a foil.

The things we see when we’re in the ocean. Kitesurfer Chad Porter posted this little clip this spring. He was foiling in light winds when a shark caught a glimpse of his gear and then proceeded to chase after him (see sprint). “Not the time to fall,” he wrote.

Definitely a no-fall zone but it also looks like it might have been a case of mistaken identity. The shark, which looks like an aggressive bull shark, could have possibly mistaken the foil wing for prey – like say a stingray or some other delectable creature and was simply trying to do what sharks do: eat.

Regardless, this is a pretty solid clip from Mr. Porter, who also happens to be a fairly stylish kitesurfer. This post just happened to go viral for him.
