Evolve: Award-Winning Images and Different Angles

In all my time shooting underwater photography, I've never had such an amazing encounter with turtles like this. In January this year, I headed to Hawaii to really focus on my nature photography. We had this magic day at Pipeline where the water was pristine and the swell was small enough to allow the Green Turtles to feed off the reef. Since photographing them this day, I'm hooked on capturing these wonderful little eagles of the sea. Photo: Craig Parry

Just before New Years in 2013, Lennox Head had a massive bushfire. I didn't know what to expect from my aerials other than destruction of the scrub land. In the distance, I could see this surreal composition. At first, I captured it at 45 degrees then looking straight over the top of the area, I noticed this amazing contrast. This image is currently a finalist at the Natural History Museum's Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition in London under "Nature's Environments." Photo: Craig Parry

After working with my helicam for a couple of years, I finally had the skills to take the machine onto my boat and photograph over the ocean. This image is of a newborn Southern Right Whale. It inspired me to keep working on the aerial side of my photography. Photo: Craig Parry

As an abstract piece, this image influenced me to start thinking outside the box of a cliché shot. Abstract images like this give me the most pleasure as they become original and are hard to compare to any other photo. Photo: Craig Parry

After shooting with a 14mm lens for most of the time I'm under the water, I finally put a 20mm in the housing and realized that the extra zoom allows me to capture the marine environment with less interference to their natural behavior and with less distortion. Photo: Craig Parry
