On December 3, Pipeline went off. It was the same day that Joao Chianca suffered a frighting wipeout that put him in the hospital, but that close call didn’t deter Pipe surfers from paddling out. Among the crowd was Flynn Novak, a guy we don’t see too much from these days. But just because Novak might be hiding from the limelight doesn’t mean he’s not still absolutely charging, and the proof is in the 20-second clip from Shannon Marie Quirk, who runs the ShannonReporting YouTube channel. While Novak might not have completed the wave, everything before the lip took him out is a masterclass in Pipe surfing.
