Fred Compagnon surfs a little differently than most. He’s taken a bunch of different facets of surfing and jammed them all together: step offs, alias, stand paddling… they’re all part of whatever you’d call what he’s got going on.

He’s a Hossegor local who loves barrels and will do just about anything for them. The boards he’s making are closer to snowboards than anything else, alias included. The one above, for example, has bindings on it. Judging by his Instagram, he’s shaping a lot of the boards he’s surfing. Or sometimes, not shaping them at all.

He’s been doing it for a while, and he’s got the clips to prove it. Here’s another one of his unorthodox way of getting barreled… but hey, the end result is the same, right?
