This Is What Good Surfing Etiquette Looks Like

You’ve seen plenty of examples online of what bad surfing etiquette looks like. So this is what good surfing etiquette looks like. Let’s try to learn something.

Surf etiquette: it’s usually only noticed when someone drops in or ruins a wave. But when it works, the lineup flows smoothly and everyone gets to enjoy the ride.

In this edit, I’m showing real examples of surfers doing etiquette right — making small decisions that have a big impact. From paddlers taking one for the team, to surfers giving priority to others, these clips show why etiquette matters, and will maybe even give you a laugh along the way. Watch closely, because good behavior at Malibu (or any crowded surf break) is rarer than you think.

And feel free to leave any addition thoughts.
