I only started traveling to Indonesia in the mid-2000s. Portugal had diplomatic issues because of East Timor and it was almost impossible to go there before 2000. The first time, I went all alone to G-Land for three weeks exclusively with surfing in mind. After that solo trip, I started going there to photograph, met legendary surf guide Gonçalo Ruivo from Mikumba Fish and started spending months sailing, searching for perfection. Meanwhile, I have done more than ten boat trips off Sumatra, from Banyak to the south of the Mentawais. This year, for some reason, I am staying home. I am missing the place and its people.
