Jamie O’Brien and Ben Gravy are good friends. They lead similar lives, spending most of their time pointing cameras at themselves as they do fun things that are generally wave related. Jamie helped Ben surf Pipe. Jamie towed Ben into the biggest wave of his life. They’ve done a lot together, and the bond that has formed is a strong one. So when Hurricane Larry bore down on the East Coast, Jamie O’Brien knew who to call.
Along with Blair Conklin, the trio decided to try their hurricane luck at a New Jersey outer reef. “The swell didn’t exactly perform how we thought it would out the back,” Ben said, “but we still had fun tracking it, watching it grow, and hoping that the dream came together.”
And that’s kind of what surfing’s all about, isn’t it?
