Pipeline is one of the most famous waves in the world. Hell, it could be the most famous, and it’s so well known because it’s basically perfect. But, as is generally the case with waves that are basically perfect, the crowd at Pipeline can be pretty damn thick.
For people who grew up surfing it like Jamie O’Brien, it’s a little easier to snag a wave. Not only because they’re atop whatever semblance of a pecking order still exists there, but because they just know the ins and outs of Pipeline far better than others. Imagine, if you will, what would happen if some Average Joe paddled out on a pink soft-top and sat deeper than everyone else?
Recently, Jamie took his GoPro out on a day that was serving up those perfect Pipe waves. It also served up a lot of people all looking to get a good one under their belt. Worth it? For Jamie… definitely.
