Jamie O’Brien Tests His New Fun Day Surfboards at Massive Keiki Shorebreak

Jamie O’Brien calls Keiki “the heaviest shorebreak in the world.” He took a few of his new Fun Day boards there for a test drive. And they held up.

Keiki is not a shorebreak to be taken lightly. Jamie O’Brien calls it “the heaviest shorebreak in the world,” and that’s saying something. Jamie’s thrown himself over many a wave that’s breaking onto basically dry sand, and for his money, Keiki is the one to watch. That’s why, after a solid pool session at Waikai, he took a few of his new Fun Day boards there for a test drive.

If you’re looking to test the strength of a surfboard, there isn’t a better way to do it than by taking it out into a thumping shore pound. Fun Day, if you’re unaware, is Jamie’s new brand. He’s currently in the process of product development, which means he’s taking his surfboards out to make sure he’s not selling garbage. And aside from a busted leash, Jamie’s soft-top didn’t snap — which is a real testament.

“The board held up well overall,” Jamie said. “It didn’t break. I just broke my leash, so that’s always a good thing when you’re testing equipment. If it can handle big Keikis, you know this board’s solid.”
