Jamie O’Brien Tests Out His New ‘Fun Day’ Soft Top at Firing Pipeline

Jamie O’Brien has a new brand dropping foam surfboards built for Pipeline. Part of a good brand is the testing phase, and there’s no better test pilot than him.

Jamie O’Brien has surfed Pipeline a lot. There’s a real chance, I think, that he might’ve surfed it more than anyone ever. That’s just something I pulled out of the air, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility. No matter how much you’ve surfed a wave like Pipe, though, and no matter how talented you are, you’re still going to take your lickings. And Jamie O’Brien took his recently when he was caught inside at 20-foot Pipe.

Something of note that’s hidden within Jamie’s new vlog: he’s firing a new brand called Fun Day Surf. It’s Jamie O’Brien to a tee. Neon. Foam. Fun. Right now, it’s just a couple of hoodies, shirts, and hats, but Fun Day Surf foam boards are on the horizon.

Anyway, back to what you probably came to see. Pipe has been good in recent days — good for those who can surf it, anyway — but when Pipe is good, the wipeouts are better. Jamie thought it was a good day to test out a beta version of one of his new Fun Day foamies, and although he didn’t get the exact wave he was looking for, having 100-plus liters of foam under his belly sure did help him catch a lot of waves.
