We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. John John Florence’s absence from competition through much of last year and a dearth of web clips have not gone unnoticed. Surf fans are collectively feeling starved of one of their favorite things – watching the two-time world champ surf.
Recovery’s been long for Florence, who suffered a debilitating knee injury last year. But, it appears he’s slowly returned to competitive form. The true test? A few waves at home at Pipe and Backdoor.
Videographer Nick Colclough recently caught Florence on film there during a rogue late-season swell on Oahu – as well as a few from Jordy Smith and others – and if we can be so bold, it appears like John John Florence is nearly back to his old self.
