Kelly Slater and his longtime partner, Kalani Miller, announced they will be having a baby. The news was delivered on Instagram Tuesday, via a short video post from the couple.
The black-and-white video depicted Slater and a visibly pregnant Miller walking along a beach to an instrumental of Ben Harper’s “The Three of Us,” ending on a closeup of Miller’s stomach. The caption was simply a white heart emoji, with no further elaboration.
Slater, 52, and Miller, 36, have been together for 16 years. Though this will be their first baby together, it will be Slater’s second child. Kelly’s daughter from a previous relationship, Taylor Slater-Kelleher, was born in 1996.
As expected for an 11-time world champion, congratulations immediately began to flood in from the entire surfing world. Basically every single professional surfer, shaper or member of the surfing industry weighed in via comments to wish the happy couple well.
