Way back in 1999, Mark Occhilupo was the World Champion. Now, two decades later, Occy has cemented himself firmly into the league of surfing legends. Then, two decades after Occy’s win, Italo Ferreira became the 2019 World Champion. He could be surfing’s most likable character, save for maybe Mason Ho, so when Occy called him up to chat on the latest edition of the Occ-Cast, it was entertaining, to say the least. At least we think that’s Occy. Hard to tell when his internet connection makes him look like someone on Live PD who didn’t sign the release, but it sure sounds like him.
