Mason Ho Surfs Some of the Wildest Waimea River We’ve Ever Seen

After a week of torrential rain, the Waimea River was ready full to the brim. Mason Ho went down to the Bay to try his hand at surfing the river wave.

When it rains in Hawaii, it pours. And this past week, it certainly did that. The Islands were battered with days of high winds, torrential downpours, and, believe it or not, hail. On the Big Island, a blizzard warning even went into affect at higher elevations. On Oahu, all that rain has to go somewhere, and one such place is into the Waimea River, which empties into the famous bay. That means the Waimea River wave turns on. And Mason Ho was there to surf it this time.

As the sun peeked its head out, Mason grabbed his …Lost ’96 Fish and headed down to Waimea Bay. The river was about as full as it gets, and Mason, along with a whole bunch of others (of course Jamie O’Brien was there), took full advantage. Leave it to Mason to find a different section to surf, right?
