This picture was shot coming back from a tow in-session in the Canary Islands. After the surf we’ve pulled the ski at the port and decided to have lunch at the restaurant next to the launch pad. Sitting at the window of the restaurant, I spotted this wave hitting the lighthouse on the other side of the bay. I took my 600mm lens, went out and nailed that photo in the first five minutes. The beer was still cold when I got back to the restaurant. Photo: Alex Laurel

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. There’s perhaps no other place where this statement holds more integrity than at The Inertia. Thousands of our contributing photographers dedicate countless hours to their art, subjecting themselves to nature’s ever-changing, often cruel elements in order to get that one shot. Through this robust passion and dedication we have been fortunate enough to show you some of the greatest surf photography in the industry.

A lot happened in 2015. From Mick Fanning’s whirlwind of a year to the myriad of other fun/crazy/amazing things that transpired, we were there to capture it all in high definition. So take a moment to reflect on this year as we take a visual journey through some of the greatest moments from 2015. Enjoy!

Oh, and if you’re feeling extra rambunctious, have a gander at our 2014 monster gallery!
