There are a lot of waves in the world. Like, a LOT. To stand out amid that glut, a wave has to be really, really good. A few stand out above the rest, of course. Pipeline, Teahupo’o, all the usual suspects, and Mundaka certainly fits the bill.
If you’re a goofy footer and you like getting tubed for a long time, when Mundaka is on, there’s just about no where else in the world that’s better. There are a few surfers who excel there — Kepa Acero comes to mind first, most likely — and Natxo Gonzalez certainly fits the bill. So when all the conditions aligned for Mundaka to come alive, Naxto was there and he did what he does best: get super barreled.
