At the height of our honeymoon period (before the flying wine glasses), my now wife and I met Carlos Gama, a Brazilian surfer/filmmaker. Carlos had moved from Rio to New York to attend a Film & Video course at NYU. The three of us hit it off beautifully, and at the end of our first dinner together, Carlos suggested we collaborate on a piece about NY Surfers. I’d never worked in video, but I loved Gisela, liked Carlos, and had had a bit to drink. This is what we came up with:

Not too many people understand what goes into being a New York surfer. This film hopes to provide a bit of insight.
