Last year I managed to catch the points up in QLD doing their thing with a nice 3-5ft groomed swell sending lines all the way from Snapper through Greenmount and nearly to Kirra. This is Kirra just before sunrise, not a soul in the water and just pumping. Oddly enough, it stayed relatively uncrowded all morning, with maybe ten guys out in total, whilst Greenmount and Snapper shared around 300 surfers all hassling for the fruits. Photo: Luke Shadbolt
Luke Shadbolt is a freelance photographer based in Sydney, Australia. He specializes in action sport, travel, landscape and lifestyle photography. He believes there is too much focus on bad news in the world and aims to put a smile on as many faces as he can with his imagery.
As with most water-related photographers, growing up in and around the ocean was his initial inspiration for getting into photography. He has since turned this passion into an enviable working lifestyle, even if the paycheck isn’t quite as enviable.
He was recently awarded the Nikon/Surfing Australia Surf Photo of the Year for 2013, as well as Bodyboarding Photographer of the Year for 2013 by both Le Boogie Bodyboarding Magazine and Riptide Magazine. He is supported by Aquatech Water Housings.
