April 1993 - On a desolate stretch of Puerto Rico's north coast this beachbreak wave reels off in the company of very few people. A 45-minute hike through an often muddy cow pasture keeps the faint of heart away, the sand clean of rubbish, and the waves free of too many takers. Image: Fitzpatrick
A native of New Jersey, Steve Fitzpatrick began documenting surfing in the early 80’s in an effort to shut the mouths’ of his high school classmates incredulous to his tales of spinning autumn barrels caught before school. Since then his travels have taken him far and wide to places as diverse as Indonesia and Greenland; his work has been published in most of the world’s top surf media publications both in print as well as online. With skills that range far beyond surf action, most of the industry’s top advertisers have used his imagery in advertising or hired him to execute assignments for their marketing campaigns, and he also counts many mainstream corporations among his impressive list of cliental.
