One morning, there was ridiculous swell up at one of the corners at home, with very few surfers. They seem to be at main beach, so I took this shot and then of course I followed. I ventured up there to find crap swell and terrible surfers. Biggest letdown.

I’m a 19-year-old photography and graphic design student. Growing up on the coast, I love everything to do with water. I capture the movement of water and seascapes of my local area, trying to find the beauty in the environment that is often passed up by others.

Throughout the university holidays, I would wake up before first light, get to a beach and set up the equipment for whatever the morning would bring. I’d shoot each beach in my local area, knowing that even though the subject matter remained the same, the sunrise would bring forth something different every time. As soon as the sunrise was over, I would find the best swell and head there for a few hours to shoot the surfers having a ride before they headed off to work.
