Preview: 2013 ISA World Surfing Games

The International Surfing Association’s World Surfing Games kicks off Saturday, May 4 and ends May 12 at the challenging reef break of Santa Catalina, Panama. Twenty five national teams will come from around the world to represent their country and compete for the gold medal.

The 2013 Reef ISA World Surfing Games in Santa Catalina, Panama, begins Saturday May 4 with the opening ceremony, which features the traditional Parade of Nations and Sands of the World Ceremony, followed by the official Press Conference. All 24 national teams and over 150 participating athletes and team officials will gather in the Province of Veraguas, an hour drive from Santa Catalina, to parade down the streets in the town of Soná in front of government officials, thousands of local spectators and supporters of surfing.

All 24 nations will gather at the world-class reef break to compete for the Fernando Aguerre World Team Champion Trophy, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President’s Trophy and individual Gold Medals in the Open Men and Open Women Divisions.
