“That’s like, fourth reef, fifth reef?” asks a disembodied voice a few minutes into the video above. “I don’t even know.”
Whatever reef it was, it was a big day. It was another “Big Monday” in Hawaii. It was 2019, and warnings were called for west-facing shores in the islands. Lifeguards readied their gear, surfers steadied their hands, and as usual, Jack Coleman readied his camera.
There were a lot of standouts that day, but perhaps Mark Healey stood out among them all. Joining him was Andrew LaGreco, Anthony Walsh, Balaram Stack, Nathan Florence, Carlos Goncalves, and more. And although that day is a year in the rearview, we’d bet no one has forgotten it.
