My driver Justin saw this wave and ran over to it to get the shot, but in the process of doing that we threw a wake up the face, which made the lip flare, bucking Chad off his feet. Do you ever wonder what Maverick’s would look like if it were clear, warm, aqua-green-blue, and super glassy? Well, wonder no more because on May 3, 2015, this spot—which we wish not to disclose—looked exactly like Mavericks’ beautiful hermana to the south. Only with more hollow barrels. Now it may not be the death-defying Mexico that went down when Mark Healey caught arguably the biggest wave ever paddled into, but it’s still absolutely beautiful.
