When the final horn sounded, it was a 21-year-old Gabriel Medina that hoisted the trophy over his head. In a win against the undisputed king of Snapper, the young Brazilian took out Joel Parkinson.
Steph Gilmore won the Roxy Pro against an in-form Bianca Buitendag, unleashing both perfect form and that famous smile on the new ASP’s increasing audience. All in all, it was a good day for professional surfing.
