Spring Kicks off Big in the Outer Banks

We got shacked all morning, then the wind flipped and we did turns all afternoon. Perfect way to start the spring after a lackluster winter.

A few times, I thought these birds were done for sure, but just like that, they would rise up and drop right back down to feast on whatever got churned up. Photo: Dom Dente

These photos are from sandbar number 28 on the Outer Banks, on March 20th 2014. Andrew Meyer and myself drove down early and met up with some local cats who are super dialed in to the shifting sands down there. We got shacked all morning, then the wind flipped and we did turns all afternoon. Perfect way to start the spring after a lackluster winter.
