A Worldwide Surf Trip: From Sri Lanka to Scotland

Italy. Imperial Fora and the Flavian Amphitheatre.. It was a cold winter day. I was driving around on my Vespa and then I spotted this unique point of view that only locals use to know. Image: Sbrizzi

Italy. Who say you can’t surf in Italy? This is actually one of the most touristic places in the South of Italy. It was unbelievable to see actual real surfing waves breaking there. Image: Sbrizzi

Italy. Surf and culture in the south. That was the last section of a nice right hander breaking in front of a historic town more than 2000 years old. Image: Sbrizzi

Kenya. The underwater world. I spent a few hours diving and swimming in this outer reef. I think the black and white gives an unusual perspective of what it is normally fully coloured. Image: Sbrizzi

Kenya. Another beautiful sunrise at Sand Island. This was a little while before taking our bus to the airport. I woke up a few minutes early in order to take pictures and the outcome wasn’t too bad at all. Image: Sbrizzi

Morocco. A Lonely Countryman. We were driving to Casablanca and during the entire trip we were admiring how unique the landscape is. Then this countryman just passed next to us. I like the shapes of the hills and the donkeys. Image: Sbrizzi

Morocco. Local girls. We stopped at some random place on the road. I am sure the locals there do not see too many visitors. There were a few kids around, and they suddenly come to see us. They didn’t ask for moneys but instead for some pens. Image: Sbrizzi

Morocco. Moroccan pure surf. I like the perspective of this picture, it allows you to imagine what the surfer could do on the next section. This local was ripping with such relaxed style. Image: Sbrizzi

Morocco. Never ending sea line. Safi is definitely a jewel! It is a perfect right-hander peeling for hundreds of meters with several barrelling section. A surfers dream. Image: Sbrizzi

Portugal. C.J. Hobgood at Belgas. I love the blur on this picture. You can really feel the movements and the speed of this turn. Image: Sbrizzi

Morocco. A demonstration of Mother Nature. This was actually a huge wave. The amount of white water was impressive and the strong offshore wind was combing his lip. The black and white adds some drama on this incredible demonstration of Mother Nature. Image: Sbrizzi

Scotland. A deserved rest at 0 degree Celsius. After spending the entire day in the water having a fire was a necessity. It was really cold and the fire helped us to warm up before entering our tent to sleep with an air temperature of about 0 degree Celsius. Image: Sbrizzi

Scotland. Since 3000 B.C. Those rocks have been there for more than 3000 years. Staring the ocean surrounded by green hills. Image: Sbrizzi

Scotland. Small rocky barrel. This was actually a stormy day and we managed to find this sheltered wave. The sun was out and the tide was perfect for some memorable rides weaving the rocks and eventually enjoying a nice cover up. Image: Sbrizzi

Scotland. The reason why surfing in the cold is worth it. We checked this wave plenty of times but it was always small, until the last two days of the trip. This nice lefthander use to peel for hundreds meters. That was a memorable day and the only price to pay was swimming in very cold water. However who cares if waves are that good… Image: Sbrizzi

Sri Lanka. A small wall of opportunities. I love this picture because the colours of the water and especially because from his point of view you can imagine the next move of the surfer on the incoming section. Image: Sbrizzi

Sri Lanka. Curious Boy. This young boy spent the entire trip with his head outside the window looking around. He was so curious that after taking few pictures I went to see him showing the photos I took. Image: Sbrizzi

Sri Lanka. An empty small gem. Even if it was small this wave can always surprise you with some barrelling sections. The reef is really close to the beach and it was very funny taking few pictures. Image: Sbrizzi

Sri Lanka. The best train trip ever. That was really an extra packed train. It was funny to see all the people putting their heads outside. Image: Sbrizzi
