The waves on the main island of Tonga in winter are often fickle, but it’s a great place to spend some time relaxing. The people are friendly, and because the island is still not as set up for tourism as the other Pacific Islands, you feel like you are having an authentic cultural experience. The whales make the trip worth it by themselves.
