Kai Lenny is truly an elite level athlete. On any given day, Lenny might do five sports just for fun. Half these activities might casually involve paddling out at Jaws. That being said, Lenny is especially distinguished when it comes to SUP racing and SUP surfing. This video features Lenny working closely with Nike trainer, Ryan Flaherty, to refine his paddling rhythm and technique. Flaherty focuses on Lenny’s VO2 max (the maximum volume of oxygen he can take in) and his VVO2 (the maximum velocity he can achieve while taking in his maximum amount of oxygen). To Flaherty, these metrics determine Lenny’s peak performance. Watch to learn more.
